Greenmarket in high season. At least, for me. Corn, Tomatoes, and Blueberries and the beginning of Green and Red Peppers.
A Steak House visit got me into Coppola Wines. Picked up a Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc.
Forest Hills Greenmarket Sunflower.

Was going up to Bethel Woods next week but a death in the family caused a cancellation. Maybe in September.
Last day of Summer Streets, crowded.
In honor of the the 44th Anniversary of Woodstock I bought Santana's THE EARLY SAN FRANCISCO YEARS - ANTHOLOGY '68 - '69. Some good cuts, a bandana and a poster included in this Three CD set.

Last stab at Restaurant Week, Ruth's Chris Steak House at Times Square. The Filet with the Shrimp was excellent. A terrific RW selection. The list should be out soon of the places that will extend to Labor Day.
Jeremy Narby looks into Nature , Shamanism and Culture. More philosophic than scientific but interesting stuff nonetheless.

Summer Streets, Week 2, a bit more crowded than last week.
Statue at the Appellate Division, First Department. Happens to be where the Whole Foods Market Picnic is located. Lots of free stuff but long lines.
Time for Lobster, Squid, Shrimp and Scallops. P.E. and D.D. Seafood for most of the stuff and Margaritaville Shrimp to top it off. Will make a Seafood Linguini.

I am plowing through Ray Monk's new Biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer (J is for Julius): ROBERT OPPENHEIMER, A Life Inside the Center.
In honor of the upcoming Shark Week, I picked up a pound and a half of Mako Shark from the Pura Vida Boat at the Forest Hills Greenmarket. BTW, the above picture is a Tuna Head.
Fresh Salsa will be the Shark Topping. From an old recipe:
1 cup small-diced red onions
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
4 pounds tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and cut into small dice
1 teaspoon minced or pressed garlic
2 tablespoons minced and seeded jalapeño peppers
½ cup finely chopped cilantro
1. Combine the red onions with the lime juice, salt, and pepper in a medium, nonreactive bowl. Cover and set aside for 20 minutes while preparing the other ingredients.
2. Combine the tomatoes, garlic, jalapeños, and cilantro in a medium bowl. Add to the onions and serve immediately.
Of course, I will add my acidity killer: Sierra Mist. Also, a shot of Tequila.

Delmonico's was great. Rib-Eye, Lobster Newberg and $30 bottle of Wine.
Baked Alaska ! The name 'Baked Alaska' was coined at Delmonico's Restaurant by their chef-de-cuisine Charles Ranhofer in 1876 to honor the recently acquired American territory.
Summer Streets is back for today and the next two Saturdays.
Nice and Quiet.
Whole Foods Picnic at East 25th Street & Park Avenue is full of free stuff. Had a great Parfait, Iced Tea , Cheese, Quesadillas and an Organic Hot Dog.

A fun evening, interesting take on a so-so play. My brother's review: "Fun but it's not Shakespeare." Spirited cast and an homage to Broadway including Rent, Cats, A Chorus Line and a Boy Band Tribute. Caesar Samayoa (Don Armado) was excellent.
The Kiss from another angle.
Great weather to hang out, drink and eat before the Play.
So much time to spare, especially with an 8:30 p.m. start. I even sampled from the Wafels and Dinges Truck. Beer flavored Ice Cream, delicious !
