Firefox crashed and I could not load it after deleting it and reinstalling. Kept getting messages "Firefox is already running." There are many pages on the net devoted to this problem but they didn't work. Finally, this one did : Fixing "Firefox is already running" (Windows 8.1). "msconfig" did the trick to getting it running again and thankfully all bookmarks remained intact.
