Star Trek Beyond
was okay, the third best in a series of three (so far.) Gotta love Idris Elba's turn as Krall. The abronath was a cute MacGuffin, this was after seeing the ultimate MacGuffin movie: The Maltese Falcon.

Lunch the other day, pretty good stuff.

The Maltese Falcon available on-demand. I've seen it countless times but keep going back. The book has an interesting side-trip of no value to the plot except the insights it gives to Sam Spade: referred to as The Flitcraft Parable.

"The life he knew was a clean, orderly, sane, responsible affair. Now a falling beam had shown him that life was fundamentally none of these things. He, the good citizen-husband-father, could be wiped out between office and restaurant by the accident of a falling beam. He knew then that men died at haphazard like that, and lived only while blind chance spared them."

Bush and Stockton. Where Miles Archer was shot.

More specific: Burrit Alley, just off Bush Street above the Stockton Tunnel.

Star Trek Beyond is on tap for tonight. First two were watchable.

Queens distribution. Arrived at 11:00 a.m. and only about 25 people ahead of me.

Lots of terrific lines and language. My English teacher cousin told me the play was written around the same time as Hamlet and Twelfth Night. Joyce Carol Oates thinks Troilus and Cressida is a play that is underrated.

The play was great. Bleak and fascinating. John Glover (Pandarus),Corey Stoll (Ulysses) and Ismenia Mendes (Cressida) were outstanding. The entire cast was first rate.

Hope to score tickets for tonight's Troilus and Cressida. Great line from play:

"Things won are done; joy's soul lies in the doing."(Cressida-Act I, scene II)
