Lots of beer at the Minnesota State Fair and you can walk around with it.



The Minnesota Craft Brewer's Guild had a terrific exhibit.



Visitors to the exhibit can select among six different flights of beers — “Crisp and Clean,” “Malty and Sweet,” “Dark and Roasty,” “Hoppy and Bitter” and “Fruity, Spicy Tart and Funky.” flight. Each flight consists of four, 5-ounce samples for $10, which can be purchased with cash or card. I went with “Dark and Roasty.”

My favorite was BLK WLF Stout by Able Seedhouse + Brewery. Their description:

Black wolves were once thought to be their own unique species. Then a smart person declared them variants of red wolves. Until an even smarter person determined they're actually a gray wolf. Our very own BLK WLF perpetuates the confusion. Dry like an Irish stout. Hoppy like an American stout. Nutty like an oatmeal stout. Creamy like a milk stout. What really is a black wolf?

ABV 3.7% IBUs 32 COLOR Black HOPS UK Challenger MALTS Irish Ale malt, Aromatic malt, Biscuit malt, Rolled Oats, Black malt, Roasted barley, Lactose.



Carl's Gizmo is a visitor from the Idaho State Fair. I had one and it was quite tasty. Sort of an Italian Sloppy Joe.



The recipe:
Servings
4-6

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1 lb hot Italian sausage or 1 lb mild Italian sausage, casings removed
1 onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped (optional)
1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
3 garlic cloves
pizza sauce, of choice
sliced mozzarella cheese
hoagie roll

Directions

Saute onions and garlic in olive oil until slightly translucent.
Add fennel seeds - saute for a minute.
Add meat and brown.
Once mixture is combined and browned - spoon mixture into hoagie bun.
Top with desired amount of pizza sauce.
Add sliced cheese - enough to cover all meat and edges of bun.
Broil until cheese is melted.



Most foods come on a stick.



Even Walleyes.

Minnesota State Fair : Bacon Up Pup, A Belgian waffle served on-a-stick with bacon in the batter, dipped in chocolate, drizzled with maple syrup, and topped with whipped cream and bacon. At Granny's Kitchen Fudge Puppies on the east side of Underwood St. between Dan Patch & Carnes avenues, outside the Food Building.
