Trout Town Brown Ale.

Nice sunset.

Birds (pigeons) in sky just flying around in a flock. Usually it is because something spooked them. They fly in a circular pattern swirling around to confuse the predator. DaVinci book says: look around and figure out why things happen.

Although there are Cornucopias, I thought this display was different and cute.

Well, it is still October.

Didn't make it to the brewery, but did have some recently released Octoberfest.

Staten Island Pizza tour continues: Lee's Tavern, 60 Hancock St., Staten Island. No name on the front. Classic old-school bar and the Pizza is different. Thin crust, excellent sauce and quite tasty. Sam Adams Octoberfest and they said keep the glass. Great place. Cash only.

Oktoberfest has begun and will be in gear until October 6.

I started on the opening this past Saturday, September 21st, with a Sam Adams Octoberfest on tap. They spell it with a "C." Very tasty, will now look for Spaten and Brooklyn Oktoberfest on tap

October 4, 2009 - Harvest Moon

Shine On Harvest Moon
By Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth (1903)

Shine on, shine on harvest moon
Up in the sky,
I ain’t had no lovin’
Since January, February, June or July
Snow time ain’t no time to stay
Outdoors and spoon,
So shine on, shine on harvest moon,
For me and my gal.

Pumpkin Ale, not bad. Ale Street News has a column
by Lew Bryson on why Pumpkin Ales generally suck.

My own Oktoberfest Taste-Test. The line-up minus Blue Point.

Brooklyn Oktoberfest wins, a close race and beats out
Spaten Oktoberfest on tap. Blue Point Oktoberfest was
very good but I have to rate it a close third.
Sam Adams Oktoberfest on tap is last but not least.
I liked them all. You can't miss with any of these brews.

Checked out Studio Square Beer Garden.
Nice place, very roomy and an impressive beer selection.
Had Sam Adams Octoberfest and Cherry Wheat.
Food was good too. Pub food - Bratwurst and Burgers.

Last night at Brouwjeri Lane featured Stone Brewing Co.
Bought a Growler of Levitation Ale. Similar to Sam Adams
but with more flavor.

Greenmarket puts out decorative Gourds, it must
be Autumn.

OK, September 22 is the Equinox.

Bright sort of chilly day.

Lots of room in the early morning.

Corn only has a few weeks left, I was told next week
is it for Peaches.

It is October and time for Octoberfest.
Sam Adams sells a tasty version.
The beer is defined as having four malts: Munich, Harrington,
Moravian and Crystal. A
Märzen style beer. According to
Wikipedia, the beer was often kept in the cellar until late in the summer, and remaining
bottles were served at the Oktoberfest. In order to last so long, either
the original gravity and alcohol were increased or the hopping was strengthened.

Nice brisk fall day. Corn should be around until
past Columbus Day. Just ate some. This year was
a great one for corn, tomatoes too.

Decorative gourds.

"Five for one, twenty for five.
Give some to your friends"

Orange Cauliflower.

Squash.

Great comment in Mr. Parker's site from Foodie
about Hawaiian Road signs. Nene crossing, quite
appropriate for crosswords.
