Today is Repeal Day. Celebrating the end of Prohibition on December 5, 1933. To honor the day, Celebration Ale.

Read the Playboy Interview of Frank Sinatra from 1963. Lots of Cold War talk and the following which is prescient:

"I'm betting that within the next decade the Russians will be on the credit- card kick just as we are. They're going to want color TV, their wives are going to want electrified kitchens, their kids are going to want hot rods. Even Russian girls are getting hip; I've seen photos of them at Russian beach resorts, and it looks just like the Riviera. They're thinning down, and I see they're going the bikini route. When GUM department store in Moscow starts selling bikinis, we've got a fighting chance, because that means the girls are interested in being girls and the boys are going to stop thinking about communes and begin thinking connubially. I've always had a theory that whenever guys and gals start swinging, they begin to lose interest in conquering the world. They just want a comfortable pad and stereo and wheels, and their thoughts turn to the good things of life -- not to war. They loosen up, they live and they're more apt to let live. Dig?"

I had a friend who was a big Sinatra fan and sometimes we listened to Saturday Night with Sinatra on the Radio. Made me appreciate the full range of his work. Sinatra ,like Bing Crosby, had phrasing down pat and still delivered the emotion.

Finally got around to viewing The Big Lebowski. Hilarious !

The Big Lebowski: What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski?
The Dude: Dude.
The Big Lebowski: Huh?
The Dude: Uhh... I don't know sir.
The Big Lebowski: Is it being prepared to do the right thing, whatever the cost? Isn't that what makes a man?
The Dude: Hmmm... Sure, that and a pair of testicles.

As predicted, Davros is history. Wild show last night.
Fire-ax to chest, wrist cut with saw and we are just getting
started. Also, an incredible beat-down of Jack Bauer by a P.O.
played by Domenick Lombardozzi, who was previously in
The Wire as Det. Thomas 'Herc' Hauk.

The NYT in late December had an article about
Academic Studies of The Dude. Since I never saw it, and I
like Bridges ,Goodman and Coen Brothers fims, I decided
to give it a try.
