Shrew sure was interesting. The leads McTeer and Jumbo were great.

PETRUCHIO: Signior Hortensio, 'twixt such friends as we
Few words suffice; and therefore, if thou know
One rich enough to be Petruchio's wife,
As wealth is burden of my wooing dance,
Be she as foul as was Florentius' love,
As old as Sibyl and as curst and shrewd
As Socrates' Xanthippe, or a worse,
She moves me not, or not removes, at least,
Affection's edge in me, were she as rough
As are the swelling Adriatic seas:
I come to wive it wealthily in Padua;
If wealthily, then happily in Padua.

Happy Flag Day ! Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14th in 1777.

Looking forward to seeing Cush Jumbo in The Taming of the Shrew. The reviews are mixed but the NYT likes it. The framing device featuring Sly is not used and replaced by an unseen narrator who sounds like Donald Trump.

Playing Doc's Game from The New Yorker, 1992, will be my plane reading.

Shakespeare in the Park just announced the borough distribution list. An all-female The Taming of the Shrew looks like a must-see with Cush Jumbo (Katherina) and Janet McTeer(Petruchio.)

Janet McTeer and Cush Jumbo will star in the Public Theater's free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Taming of the Shrew. An all female cast.

Even Google wished me Happy Birthday after I signed in.

Added a card to my list of gifts.
