Well, I retired. So far, so good.

I bought this yesterday. Makes a decent Latte.

On February 2nd, it will be the 100th anniversary of the Shakespeare and Company's Paris publication.

                                                Gifts to myself with a B & N $100 gift card.

Last time, I made it to chapter 5, Lotus Eaters. A DVD gift: The Great Courses - Joyce's Ulysses taught by Professor James A. W. Heffernan of Dartmouth may enable me to get further.

Perfect score !

Books to take to Hawaii. 1. The White Album by Joan Didion:

"I could indulge here in a little idle generalization, could lay off my own state of profound emotional shock on the larger cultural breakdown, could talk fast about convulsions in the society, and alienation and anomie and maybe even assassination, but that would be just one more stylish shell game. I am not the society in microcosm. I am a thirty-four-year-old woman with long straight hair and an old bikini bathing suit and bad nerves sitting on an island in the middle of the Pacific waiting for a tidal wave that will not come."

2. Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life, recent winner of the Pulitzer prize.

3. From Here to Eternity.

4. Ulysses.

Water's Edge for Restaurant Week, great views and the food is better. Calamari was fantastic as was the Lava Cake. I call it a hot ring-ding.

Water Fowl.

The United Nations from the water side.

Chapter 3 Proteus was a bear, needed lots of help to understand. First big batch of interior monologue.
