Nice selections.

I am always asked to carve. I know how to because of a NYT video "The butcher carves a turkey."

The basics. The video gives you the instruction.

Sides are more important than Turkey. I bought wine and pies.

Real cold yesterday. Reminded of when I took my boys many moons ago and it was freezing. They had a good time for a while then just wanted warmth and food.

Because I know how to carve, I am always asked.

This pothole wiped out my front passenger side front tire. I called 311 after the online version didn't recognize the address. I had pictures but no one wanted them. NYC will only reimburse if they had prior notice. Well, now they do. 311 system is rather disappointing.

Books for Christmas gifts with 20% off coupons on top of online discounts except the New Orleans book which was 40% off and an extra 10%.

As gifts to myself and my sons, Echo and Echo Dot. Will upgrade to Amazon Music unlimited shortly. Pretty easy to set up. Will use it for music and alarm clock for now. My Prime membership gives me quite a bit of music already, Listening to the Christmas channel right now.

LADY ANNE: I would I knew thy heart.
GLOUCESTER: 'Tis figured in my tongue.
LADY ANNE: I fear me both are false.
GLOUCESTER: Then never man was true.
LADY ANNE: Well, well, put up your sword.
GLOUCESTER: Say, then, my peace is made.
LADY ANNE: That shall you know hereafter.
GLOUCESTER: But shall I live in hope?
LADY ANNE: All men, I hope, live so.
GLOUCESTER: Vouchsafe to wear this ring.
LADY ANNE: To take is not to give.

Some un-posted Christmas shots. This is Patience. The wreaths used to be a yearly gesture but has been missing the past few years. Glad to see it back.

Fortitude.

I had Turkey carving duty due to my knowing how to carve a turkey like a butcher.

The dog was always fed when I didn't do it, I continued the tradition.

City & State First Read is my new way to start each morning during M-F. They e-mail it to your smart phone.

HENRY KISSINGER'S NYT Book Section review of the new Biography of George F. Kennan was excellent.

Lucky Bruce was a treat. What a life ! He mentioned hanging at Elaine's with Paul Desmond. Today on Sunday morning Dan Aykroyd mentioned how he met his wife, Donna Dixon, of thirty years on the set of Doctor Detroit , penned by Bruce Jay Friedman. A horrible movie and the Queenpin character "Mom" owes something to the bad Maltese Falcon adaptation Satan Met a Lady. The Queenpin there was Madame Barabbas.

At the time I really thought it was kind of a throw-away. I was ready to trade the entire rights, lifetime-wise of "Take Five" for a used Ronson electric razor. And the thing that makes "Take Five" work is the bridge, which we almost didn't use. We really came within ... I shudder to think how close we came to not using that, because I said "Well I got this theme that we could use for a middle part". And Dave said, "Well let's run it through." And that's what made "Take Five". - Paul Desmond

Desmond specified in his will that all proceeds from "Take Five" would go to the Red Cross following his death.

“I don’t cut like a chef, I cut like a butcher,” said Ray Venezia, the meat director for the four Fairway markets.

Every year I watch this video to refresh my carving skills. New Fairway opening in Douglaston this week.

Always liked Mario Puzo's books. This was his first and said to be quite good. I am taking a few days off and plan to read it shortly.

I use this method, always good to watch before attacking the Bird.
