17% off for St. Patrick's Day. Trees, that's what it is about. Richard Powers will make it interesting.

I thumbed through this while at Barnes and Noble. Didn't have a coupon then. A quick review, packaged in graphics. I need it for the plays I haven't seen or read. A small lot.

Sirius XM Channel 30 had Irish Music all weekend. Flogging Molly‘s Dave King and Bridget Regan hosted traditional jigs and contemporary Irish rock songs — from folk groups like The Chieftains and The Dubliners to Celtic punk bands like Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, and The Pogues. Real good stuff.

St. Patrick's Day. Going to make a Corned Beef simmered in Guinness Stout.

Got the recipe from Allrecipes. Of course, I did some modifications including throwing a little Jameson.

Went to the Barclay's Center for a College game.

Local bar had an outside porch on the upper level. 70 degrees and a great place to hang out.

Love the hat.

Guinness settling.

From yesterday.

My main bracket is at 86%. The ones I didn't pick look to lose their next games, looking good unless a big upset throws things off. **** Update, My 97% bracket with Villanova winning is now dead. Villanover, Nova no longer a lox.

Sometimes I don't pay attention to things because they work, although not up to standards. I pay extra for faster internet and I only started seeing if I get what am paying for, like running a speed-test. Yikes, 10mbps download, 5mbps upload. I did a spectrum chat and the technician on the other end did some jiggling to my modem off-site and then I was 50mbps download and 25mbps upload, better but not what I am paying for monthly. I was told to connect via ethernet which for some reason I had not, probably due to my move two years ago.I did have a technician doing the install, but no ethernet connection. Don't know how I missed it. I was more interested in connecting the apartment via WiFi.Everything was off of WiFi. Now 95 mbps and 23mbps.

Today's Google Doodle is Skellig Michael, a World Heritage–listed remote island off the Irish coast near County Kerry. Also, where Rey meets Luke at end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Winter Storm Stella, a Nor'easter, approaches. NY1 is usually accurate but they say NYC will get 10" - 20." They apologized, saying mix of rain may lower estimates, but it will depend on different factors that could change. New model out at 2 pm today.

Made my picks. One picks Villanova, the other Duke.

Listening to the Laura Nyro Live at Carnegie Hall CD. Really taken with When I was a Freeport and You were the Main Drag. Does it refer to the Freeport Speedway and drag racing ? Or is it a free port and a highway ? Speedway to her heart ? Or is drag a boring or tiresome person ? That song and a terrific Sweet Blindness make the album a special one.

You took my heart, misery
You taught me blues
Well I got a lot of patience baby
That's a lot of patience to lose
I'm crying, I'm mad at my country
Now I've been treated bad
When I was a freeport and you were the main drag.

Broken blues, I just don't know
Little bird, flying by my window
Take me where you go
I'm crying - I'm looking at these times
And It's bound to drive me mad
When I was a freeport and you were the main drag

St. Patrick's Day falls on a Friday this year, right in the middle of Lent. Problem ? No worry, Bishops throughout America granting dispensations for Corned Beef eaters. I prefer Pastrami myself. I will have Irish Coffee and pass on the beef.

Since St. Patrick's day is on a Monday, this is St. Patrick's Day weekend. Time for soda bread and Irish Coffee.

Went to the A-10 championships at the Barclays Center for two afternoon games. Nice arena, actually better than MSG.

Oh yeah, I am ready. Half and Halfs coming up with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as the bottom half. The name "Black and Tan" is not used in Ireland as a term for a mixture of two beers, the drink is instead referred to as a Half and half due to the association with the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force, nicknamed the "Black and Tans", which was sent into Ireland in the early 1920s.

Sláinte! - "To Your Health!"
