Strawberries now down to $4.75 a pint. The taste of these is incredible, sweet, juicy.
Gian Maria Volonté in For a Few Dollars More is terrific. Klaus Kinski is also good as the Hunchback.
Swordfish Tacos tonight.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Finally, New Jersey Strawberries. $5.75 a pint but the taste is worth it. Also, picked up some flounder, will make a Shrimp/Flounder thing with white corn meal and Old Bay Seasoning.
Finishing up on The Dirty Dozen. John Cassavetes is very good as Franko.

Flagship Brewery opened in Staten Island. Good beer, good place.
Went to Stop and Shop, my purchase : four bags of Sharp Cheddar grated cheese and a twelve-pack of Corona. The check-out girl said "Hmm Beer and Cheese", I said for Mac and Cheese and the woman behind me said her sons will be right over.

Summer really is here, New Jersey Strawberries have arrived at the Greenmarket. Well, got there late and all gone. Tomorrow and Monday still give me a chance.
Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt by Chris Hedges and Joe Sacco was my pick at Barnes and Noble.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. Mine is gone as well as the mother of my children. Still, I will hoist a drink to the memory of both and all the Moms out there.
Goldfinger Bond Girl's (Jill Masterson played by Shirley Eaton) death was still jarring.
Views of Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.
Brooklyn Bridge Park is beautiful, landscaped a lot like the Highline.Inside the structure is a Carousel.
Nice waterfront views of Manhattan.
Went to Brooklyn Smorgasburg Sunday at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5. Dan and John's Wings and Sunday Gravy Chicken Parm sliders hit the spot.

Goldfinger's Cec Linder as Felix Leiter didn't quite impress as a CIA Agent, more similar to a Real Estate Agent. I'm watching a bunch of Bond movies on Netflix. At least Jack Lord in Dr. No had a degree of menace.
I can feel the new season coming. Ramps and Asparagus are here, the berries to follow shortly. Picked up a seafood medley: Grey Sole. Weakfish and Swordfish. Will cook up a Mushroom, Wine, Lemon Juice, Red Pepper, Garlic, and Ramp Sauce for the fish. Ramps now $4 a bunch, expensive weed but tasty.

When I work out in the gym, I usually watch P.T.I., but last night they had this video on one of the TVs. A real train wreck of motifs: Fame, sex, death. Out Madonnas Madonna. Still, a catchy song.
Of course, I had heard it on a KIA commercial. They only show the last part on TV, but the whole ad is pretty amusing. Seems like I get new music from ads now.

Coronas and Tacos for Dos de Mayo.
From The Suits of James Bond: "In From Russia With Love, Bond wears a charcoal flannel suit to dinner at the gypsy camp. This is a typical Anthony Sinclair suit: a lower two-button style, natural shoulders with roped sleeveheads, a little drape and a nipped waist. This suit jacket has double vents, four buttons on the cuffs and flapped pockets. The trousers have double forward pleats with button-tab waist adjusters and turn-ups."
Just finished From Russia With Love on Netflix. The best Bond movie. Pedro Armendáriz is remarkable. He died a short time later and was deathly ill during the filming.
