Confit of Lamb was real good at Craftbar last night. Roasted Brussels sprouts were also a treat.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back was passable. I liked Cobie Smulders and the New Orleans Halloween parade.
Bought The Honourable Schoolboy after watching both versions of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I had read Smiley's People but not this one.

Roddy Martindale: Let's talk about your old boss, Control. The only Head of the Secret Service who kept his name a secret. Shall we talk about Control?
George Smiley: If you insist.
Roddy Martindale: Of course, it wasn't a secret to you, was it, George? He never had any secrets from you, his tried and trusted right hand, did he?
George Smiley: I don't know. That's the point about secrets.

“Take it from me, there's nothing like a job well done. Except the quiet enveloping darkness at the bottom of a bottle of Jim Beam after a job done any way at all.”

At work, I hear about movies I would never watch and then I try them. Guardians was worth watching.
‘Cheshire Puss,’ she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however, it only grinned a little wider. ‘Come, it’s pleased so far,’ thought Alice, and she went on. ‘Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’
‘That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the Cat.
‘I don’t much care where—’ said Alice.
‘Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said the Cat.
— Lewis Carroll
‘I didn’t know that Cheshire cats always grinned; in fact, I didn’t know that cats could grin.’

I'm Your Puppet.
CLINTON: Well, that’s because he’d rather have a puppet as president of the United States.
TRUMP: No puppet. No puppet.
CLINTON: And it’s pretty clear...
TRUMP: You’re the puppet!
CLINTON: It’s pretty clear you won’t admit...
TRUMP: No, you’re the puppet.

Reading the crossword blogs this morning and had to figure out "eykioyd." A variant of "YEKIOYD" - you either know it or you don't.
20% coupon, so I ordered this which looks interesting. I've seen the author on cable shows and he gives an unexpected take on his life and our country.

Hombre available on TCM free movies on demand. Written by Elmore Leonard. Richard Boone is terrific as the villain.
[Grimes has just delivered an ultimatum to Mendez and the others]
John Russell: Hey. I got a question. How are you planning to get back down that hill?
Grimes: Now you wait a minute! I'm getting back down the same way I came up! (Begins running back down the hill. Russell shoots him as he is running)
Jessie: [as Grimes crawls away after being shot] Cicero Grimes, meet John Russell.

My first thought was Chronicles, Volume One was good but that good ? In the midst of all the articles this interview was fascinating.
You've got a lotta nerve to say you are my friend
When I was down you just stood there grinnin'
You've got a lotta nerve to say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on the side that's winnin'
You say I let you down, ya know its not like that
If you're so hurt, why then don't you show it?
You say you've lost your faith, but that's not where its at
You have no faith to lose, and ya know it
I know the reason, that you talked behind my back
I used to be among the crowd you're in with
Do you take me for such a fool, to think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide what he don't know to begin with?
You see me on the street, you always act surprised
You say "how are you?", "good luck", but ya don't mean it
When you know as well as me, you'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once and scream it
No, I do not feel that good when I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief perhaps I'd rob them
And tho I know you're dissatisfied with your position and your place
Don't you understand, its not my problem?
I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you
Mentioned in the Dylan interview: Billy Lee Riley.
