Memorial Day takes on extra meaning this year. We lost those who serve, even when they were not in the armed services. This does not dilute the memories of the Vets, it adds to the meaning of service for those on the front lines.
Terrific book, starts with the history of medical practice in America and the emergence of science based innovations.
Finished this one, ripping good yarn. also finished Camus'The Plague.
Watched The Stranger, what an ending!
Watched Bright on Netflix. I want two hours of my life back. I did like the Feds Magic squad.

Saw this in the New Yorker: Big Read - The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Different readers for different passages, even a reading from Antartica. Quite good.
Enemy of All Mankind by Steven Johnson looked too good to pass up.

Finally! I tried cancelling, COVID-19 reasons and a cancelled event, a trip that was scheduled for this past weekend for quite some time. I reserved the whole schmeer: plane, hotel and car. The car rental and hotel were refunded quickly. The plane refund took some doing. I put in numerous requests for cancellation but never received any feedback except that it was received. I called last Monday and was told the agent couldn't handle it, could I wait. Forty-five minutes later I had another agent, again on hold with awful music. They dropped the call. Thankfully, I received a call about ten minutes later. The refunds came in this weekend, the Insurance came in today. This shouldn't be so hard and time-consuming. The refunds for the car and hotel were done on-line and quickly.
RIP Betty Wright:"Clean Up Woman" and "Tonight Is the Night" are on my playlists.

RIP Jerry Stiller. Above as Launce, servant to Proteus and master to Crab, a mongrel dog. Crab is played, says the publicity, by a cur-a dirty white mutt-found wandering through the park during rehearsal.

COVID-19 still dominates all facets of living. About to go Senior shopping.
I received a $10 credit from Amazon, time for Plague books. Albert Camus is a terrific writer, great observations. Looking forward to Defoe's Journal. The 1918 Spanish flu seems like something I should know more about. That is 1918 not 1917!
