June 26, 2010

Stuck on the 59th Street Bridge and not feeling Groovy.

Arrived later than usual, but not too crowded.

At the Greenmarket they were giving out this magazine. Great recipe:
Patsy's Meatballs
Apr 30 2010 Rachel Wharton Recipes
1½ pounds chopped veal
1 whole egg
1 egg yolk
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons grated romano cheese
Salt and pepper
Chopped fresh parsley
½ cup of breadcrumbs
Pinch of oregano
Mix thoroughly and form into 2 ½ inch meatballs. Preheat olive oil in skillet to 350 degrees (oil should cover half the meatball when frying) Fry meatballs in olive oil, 2 minutes on each side. Take out of oil. Place the meatballs in simmering tomato sauce and cook another 10-15 minutes.

Corn has arrived. The above is from Miglorelli Farms. It was quite tasty and fresh. Lucy's Greenmarket Report states that Sycamore Farms will have their Corn this Wednesday. Yipee !!

McNeill's Oatmeal Stout starts the weekend Beers.

Man, need a light refreshing beer sometimes, Blue Point Summer Ale does the trick.

This Beer is more like Mead.

I have a CD of Heaney reading his translation. Heorot was the Mead-Hall.

So Hrothgar decided
he would build a mead-hall,
the greatest the world had
ever seen, or even imagined.
There he would share out
to young and old alike
all that God gave him
(except for public lands and men's lives).

Heorot means "Hall of the Hart" (male deer.)

2:30, the saga continues.
